Sentai Filmworks has announced that it has acquired home video and streaming rights for the upcoming Prima doll animated series. The latest anime project from Key and Visual Arts will be streaming exclusively on their HIDIVE service worldwide, excluding Asia, as part of their Summer 2022 anime schedule.
Prima doll is planned for the first in Japan on July 8, 2022, with an early July 3 release on the ABEMA streaming service. The animated series was first confirmed in production this past January.
The main voice cast includes Azumi Waki like Haizakura, Tomori Kusonoki like Karasuba, Miyu Tomita like Gekka, Yuki Nakashima like Houkiboshi, and Akari Kitō like Retzel. Other actors include Ayumu Murase like Nagi Toma, Misaki Kuno like Chiyo, and Ayaka Suwa like Otome Okunomiya. Black cat (consisting of the five main female voices) will sing the anime’s opening theme “Tin Toy Melody.”
The anime’s production team includes tenshou (Mosaic Kin-iro, The Fruit of Grisaia) as a director, Okano (Kaginado screenwriter) and Kai (Kaginado screenwriter) as composers and screenwriters of series, and Akane Yano (Lower level character Tomozaki) as animation director and character designer. Serving as original character designers are NaGa, Fuzichoco, Yui Hara, In Morikuraand lack respectively.
Other staff include Makoto Ishiwata (Obsolete mechanical designer) as the original mechanical designer and Miyake Masakazu (Sabikui cookie) as artistic director. VISUAL ARTS and Key are credited with the original concept, while Bibury Animation Studios takes care of the production of the animation.
It was also announced that two manga series will be produced, based on the anime. They understand Prima Doll: New Orderwhich will be written by Touya Okano and illustrated by Yuriko Asamiand will be serialized in Dengeki G.’s magazine. Another series titled Prima doll: Youkoso Kuronekotei e~ by Daiko Toda will be serialized on Comic Bushiroad Web.
Additionally, a drama CD is set to go on sale November 30, 2022 with regular and limited edition options available for purchase.

The “Kuronekotei” cafe has an unusual list of employees. A group of automata, or self-contained mechanical dolls, serve their customers with a smile, but they haven’t always been so suited to domestic life. A few years ago, automata served as weapons in the great war, fulfilling the bloody purpose for which they were created.
