Baristas have long dazzled latte lovers with elegant swirls and other sparkling designs, but a few budding latte artists have set their sights a little higher. Thanks to a certain love of cartoon-inspired espresso, coffee lovers and anime fans can now get the best of both worlds.
TO BELCORNO, an Italian pizzeria in Ichinomiya, the talented latte artist Bel creates spectacular cartoons in cappuccinos and lattes.
For those unfamiliar with this art form, latte art is created by creating a design or pattern on the surface of a latte or cappuccino. Unlike many other latte artists, Bel’s latte art is colorful and three-dimensional. Here are some examples of his latte art:
Kiki and Jiji from Kiki’s delivery service
Yachiru Kusajishi from Bleach
Ren Jinguji from Uta no Prince Sama
Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana from To free!
If you’re interested in seeing more of Bel’s art, check out BELCORNO’s Twitter. Or, if you are in Japan and want to personally enjoy a cartoon-inspired drink, visit BELCORNO, located in Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture.
BELCORNO isn’t the only place with artistically inspired baristas. Meet artist Kazuki Yamamoto, who is making a name for himself in the world of latte art. Or if you have personal aspirations to create latte art, check out these Youtube videos from the talented Nowtoo Sugi.
