Introduction
When the Escaflowne
television series went into production, a unique problem was discovered.
The Sunrise animators and writers had prepared too much material
to fit into the allotted broadcast timeslot. In order to make the
episodes fit the schedule, a number of scenes were removed.
Naturally the
scenes chosen for deletion were not crucial to the plot of the series,
but they did expand upon the nature of the characters and
in at least one case introduced a unique and rather surprising
plot twist. One deleted scene also contained a selection of Yoko
Kanno background music that was not used anywhere else in the series.
The list below
details the deleted scenes. A few insignificant cuts, such as split-second
landscape shots, are not listed. For screencaptures of the listed
scenes, please visit the Screenshots
page.

up.

off like a slab of bacon. Hitomi then proceeds to
leave the room for some fresh air.

The episodes
above are the only ones that were manipulated for time. The animation
of the later episodes was monitored much more carefully, so as to
prevent excess material much to the disappointment of fans
everywhere, who would have loved the chance for more character development.
